HaLong Bay Vietnam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a
popular travel destination, located in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam.
Administratively, the bay belongs to Halong City, Cam Pha town, and part of Van
Don district. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in
various sizes and shapes. Halong Bay is a center of a larger zone which
includes Bai Tu Long bay to the northeast, and Cat Ba islands to the southwest.
These larger zones share similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate,
and cultural characters.
Halong Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2, including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem. Halong Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.
Looking down from above, Ha Long Bay as a giant picture wearing extremely lively. It is the beautiful art works, cultural talent of creating, processing thousands of natural islands other senseless silence becomes the sculpture, painting with flawless grace all shapes, both very familiar just as alien to humans. Thousands of undulating rocks in the water shimmering waves, both boast spectacular but also very soft and graceful, lively. Going between Ha Long with thousands of stone islands, we thought lost in a world of fairy stone here. Island is like someone is heading to the land - The top island, the island is like a dragon hovering above the water - Dragon Island, the island is like an old man sitting fishing - Hon La Vong; and the other two sails are turning brown burly sea waves - sail island, and two chickens dangled cuddling together on the waves - over the roof, standing in a vast sea giant censer as a character worshiping heaven and earth - Hon Lu Huong ... All of them are really, really incredible. The reef was amazing metamorphosis incalculable time and perspective. At this point we realized that not all of them are dead quiet island that are as vivid and soulful.
Ha Long Bay is also attached to the page where the user glorious, heroic people of Vietnam with landmarks such as Van Don - where busy trading port in the 12th century, with Bai Tho Mountain tourism use, how to include the Bach Dang river - witness the naval battle of two generations of illustrious ancestors against invaders. Not only that, Ha Long Bay is one of the cradles of human beings with the glorious Ha Long culture Late Neolithic period in the archaeological sites known as Dong Mang, Xich Tho, Soi Nhu, Thoi Gieng ...
Historical research surveys have shown the presence of prehistorical human beings in this area tens of thousands years ago. The successive ancient cultures are the Soi Nhụ culture around 18,000–7000 BC, the Cái Bèo culture 7000–5000 BC and the Halong culture 5,000–3,500 years ago. Halong Bay also marked important events in the history of Vietnam with many artifacts found in Bai Tho Mout, Dau Go Cave, Bai Chay.
500 years ago, Nguyen Trai praised the beauty of Hạ Long Bay in his verse Lo Nhap Van Don, in which he called it "rock wonder in the sky". In 1962, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam listed Halong Bay in the National Relics and Landscapes publication. In 1994, the core zone of Halong Bay was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site according to criterion vii, and listed for a second time according to criterion viii.
In 1994 it was designated a World Heritage site. Visitors can’t help but compare the magical, mystical landscape of limestone islets to Guilin in China and Krabi in southern Thailand, but in reality Halong Bay is more spectacular. These tiny islands are dotted with beaches and grottoes created by wind and waves, and have sparsely forested slopes ringing with birdsong.
Beyond the breathtaking vistas on a boat cruise through the bay, visitors to Halong come to explore the caves – some of which are beautifully illuminated for the benefit of tourists – and to hike in Cat Ba National Park. There are few real beaches in Halong Bay, but Lan Ha Bay (off the coast of Cat Ba Island) has more than 100 sandy strips.
Halong City is the gateway to Halong Bay but not the ideal introduction to this incredible World Heritage site. Developers have not been kind to the city and most visitors sensibly opt for tours that include sleeping on a boat in the bay. In short, Halong Bay is the attraction; Halong City is not.
